Belmont Fire Department Responds to Working Fire in Condominium Complex

BELMONT – Chief David DeStefano reports that the Belmont Fire Department responded to a working fire in a condominium complex on Lexington Street on Tuesday night. 

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Belmont Fire Department responded to a reported house fire on Lexington Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a fire in the ceiling and attic space of a 5-unit townhouse-style condominium building. The building was searched and all occupants were evacuated. The fire was quickly extinguished in the unit of origin. 

All on-duty Belmont firefighters responded, along with mutual aid from the Watertown and Cambridge Fire Departments. The Arlington and Cambridge Fire Departments covered Belmont stations during the fire. 

One family was displaced. There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Belmont Fire Department.
