As an all-hazards response agency, the Belmont Fire Department is trained and equipped to handle a wide range of emergencies. On a recent Friday afternoon our firefighters were called to handle calls for simultaneous emergencies that illustrated the value of our training and planning. The on-duty firefighters responded to 29 emergencies in 19 hours. These calls included a basement fire, numerous medical calls and a natural gas leak, all occurring at the same time.
