Belmont Fire Department Training Program

Belmont Firefighters train nearly every day to maintain a constant state of readiness for all emergency response activities. Our Firefighter/Paramedics and EMTs attend monthly training instructed by our Medical Director, an Emergency Department physician at Mt. Auburn Hospital. In addition, they receive training assigned by our in-house EMS Coordinator. Our Training Officer coordinates a tiered fire training program that includes single unit training drills, and shift-wide training, as well as Department-wide lessons, some of which are taught by fire academy instructors or subject matter experts in fields such as technical rescue and aerial and pumper operator skills. These training activities are generally conducted during the course of a work shift, between calls for emergency response, inspections, and routine maintenance duties.
