Until Help Arrives

The Belmont Fire Department will sponsor a free program taught by instructors from the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) with curriculum from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Tuesday, March 12, 2024, 6:00 pm, at the Beech Street Center

The actions that ordinary citizens take before firefighters and other emergency responders arrive can make a crucial difference when people near them receive life-threatening injuries due to natural or human-caused events. This class will provide a number of simple, yet essential interventions that can improve the outcome for those who are injured. This includes, moving victims from danger, controlling bleeding, positioning the injured to improve breathing, and providing comfort until help arrives.
